Mintos fall to Blazers in OT
The Prince Albert Mintos saw their four-game win streak come to an end on Tuesday night, falling 6-5 in overtime to the Saskatoon Blazers at the SaskTel Centre.
The Mintos were trailing 4-1 at one point in the second period and managed to whittle down the deficit and eventually tie the game late in the third. In the final minutes, Saskatoon regained the lead with two minutes to play before Carter Cole played hero and tied it up again at five a-piece with 1:10 remaining to force overtime.
There, though, it didn’t take long to find a winner as WHL Cup All-Star and tournament point leader Blake Chorney potted the game winner just 17 seconds into sudden death to win it for the Blazers.
With the win, Saskatoon improves to 6-1-0 (W-L-OTL) on the season while the Mintos fall to 9-4-1 on the campaign and retain first place in the standings.
