A familiar face to Hockeytown North is staying put in the Music City.

Former Prince Albert Raider and 2019 WHL Champion Ozzy Wiesblatt has signed a two-year contract with the Nashville Predators, worth $775,000 at the NHL level.

The Calgary product has appeared in six games for Nashville’s AHL affiliate Milwaukee Admirals this season, potting two assists, a +1 rating and tallying 12 shots on goal, according to a release from the Predators.

He ended last season in Milwaukee on loan from the San Jose Barracuda, AHL affiliate of the Sharks, recording six points (1G-5A) in 16 regular season games. During the Admirals Western Conference Final run in the playoffs, Wiesblatt managed nine points (2G-7A) in 15 appearances. In two seasons in San Jose, the forward notched 26 points (9G-17A) in 76 games.

Wiesblatt was a first-round draft pick, 31st overall, to San Jose in 2020 and prior to going pro, the 22-year-old spent parts of five seasons in Prince Albert. He helped lead the Raiders to a WHL Championship in 2019 and across his career in major junior, the former P.A. alternate captain registered 179 points (58G-121A) in 195 games.

So far this year, the Admirals are 6-1-0-0 (W-L-OTL-SOL) on the young season and they look to make it seven wins in a row on Friday in Manitoba against the Moose.
