Comets, Tornadoes will tangle in provincial final

A Highway 3 battle for all the marbles.

The Melfort Comets and Tisdale Tornadoes will square off in the 4A 9-man high school football final.

The Comets advanced after a 63-42 victory over Lumsden in Melfort on Saturday.

Melfort enters Saturday’s final undefeated on the season.

The Tornadoes beat Delisle 38-37 in a thriller on the road to advance to the final.

Melfort downed Tisdale 48-14 in their lone meeting during the regular season.

Game time on Saturday in Melfort is at 1 p.m.

Wakaw advanced to the 2A 6-man final after a 38-22 victory over Southey on Saturday.

They will take on Clavet in the provincial final, after the Cougars doubled up Rosetown 72-36.

Clavet will host the provincial final on Saturday.

Hanley defeated St. Brieux in their 1A 6-man semifinal, 48-16.

Hanley and Hafford will meet in the final this weekend, while St. Brieux visits Lemberg in the third-place match.
