The MLA for the Melfort constituency is excited to start his new role as Government Whip.

Todd Goudy was named to the new position by Premier Scott Moe, as he announced his government’s new cabinet and leadership positions on Thursday.

Goudy told northeastNOW that he welcomes the challenge.

“I really appreciate the opportunity to serve in our caucus as the Whip, and I’m looking forward to it,” said Goudy.

Goudy said the Government Whip is the individual that helps everyone stay on track and be in the proper place when they need to be there.

“For things like voting and different debates and speeches, basically the Whip is the one that keeps people in order, in line,” Goudy said.

The Whip also works hand-in-hand with fellow caucus members, and Goudy said he enjoys working together with his colleagues.

The provincial government is planning a fall sitting of the legislature. Goudy said he’s excited to get back to work in Regina and work alongside the new government cabinet announced by Premier Moe on Thursday.

“We have a great crew that the Premier has put in place and a lot of great new members as well that I think are going to enjoy their time down in Regina,” Goudy said. “I’m excited for the session that’s upcoming.”

Goudy said no matter what role you may play in Regina, the main goal is to serve the people of the constituency and that’s what he plans to do.

Goudy was re-elected in the Melfort constituency in the provincial election Oct. 28.
