Nov 9, 2024 | 11:47 AM

A long-time Marketing and Development Manager is no longer employed by the City of Humboldt.

A news release from the CIty of Humboldt said Penny Lee’s time with them has come to an end.

City Manager Joe Day was tight-lipped about her departure, only telling northeastNOW “her views and positions basically no longer really aligned well with the city, and ultimately it was determined it would be better if she was no longer with us.”

In the news release, the city touted Lee’s work over the years, saying that she was “instrumental in advancing communications protocols and initiatives to market the City to both residents and prospective developers.”

The release stated Lee played a major role in presenting a positive image of Humboldt, especially in the aftermath of the Broncos bus crash.

She was also lauded for spearheading a number of initiatives, including the “Heart of it All” campaign, expansion of media communications, engaging and meaningful annual reports, and streaming City Council meetings online for the public.

“The City of Humboldt extends its thanks to Penny for her years of dedicated service and wishes her the very best in her future endeavors,” the release said.

northeastNOW has been in contact with Lee and we hope to have comments from her in the coming days.
