Ice Wolves shine in recent SJHL Players of the Week announcements
The La Ronge Ice Wolves have picked up three awards during the most recent Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s (SJHL) Players of the Week announcements.
Cole Thomas was awarded Forward of the Week, while Captain Rylan Silzer took Defenceman of the Week and Mason Bueckert earned the Saskatchewan-born Player of the Week.
In the last two games, which marked back-to-back wins against the Estevan Bruins on Nov. 15 and 16, Thomas earned five points (one goal, four assists), while Silzer earned three points (one goal, two assists) and Bueckert earned four points (two goals and two assists).
In other Ice Wolves news, the team has signed Waylon Gardipy of Duck Lake for the 2025-2026 season. Gardipy has played for the North Battlefords Stars U18 AAA for the past two seasons, and he has acquired seven goals and seven assists in the last 10 games. Gardipy was chosen second overall by the Ice Wolves in the 2024 draft.
