Humboldt Golf Club to host 2025 Saskatchewan Amateur Championship

Nov 20, 2024 | 5:23 PM

Golf Saskatchewan announced its 2025 provincial amateur golf championship schedule on Wednesday and it includes a local club as one of the hosts.

The Humboldt Golf Club (HGC) will play host to the Saskatchewan Amateur Championships in July.

This includes the Amateur and Mid-Amateur Championships for both men and women.

“The excitement level is pretty high right now and we’re definitely looking forward to it. We’ve known for a bit now and have been doing a bit of work behind the scenes, so now we’re ready to go,” said HGC vice president of the board, Dave Hill.

The tournament will run from July 15-18, marking the second amateur championship of the year.

Registration for the tournament will open on April 15.

“It does seem like a long way away but we know these things always come faster than we expect them to. We just want to inform our members and local community that this tournament will be happening here and more importantly hopefully start finding some volunteers,” Hill added.

“We’re just honoured to get to host the event and really just want to expose our province to our great club and what we’re all about. This tournament is going to let a lot more people know about the quality of golf we have here in Humboldt.”

In the past, HGC hosted the women’s championship, back in 2013, however, the men’s event has never been held in the city before.

“We’ve had positive experiences in the past and I think the central location of our club is appealing to Golf Sask, and I hope it’s appealing to golfers all around the province to come and give us a visit as well,” concluded Hill.

Other 2025 championships include the Juniors in Lloydminster, the Seniors in Swift Current, the Rosebowl in Moose Jaw, and the Mixed in North Battleford.
