The Saskatchewan RCMP’s North Battleford Crime Reduction Team – Gang Task Force (CRT-GTF) seized five firearms (two loaded and two replica ), 58 grams of crack cocaine, and 360 grams of methamphetamine during recent search warrants.

The North Battleford CRT-GTF is part of the Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Teams (SERT), which includes the Crime Reduction Team (CRT), Warrant Enforcement Suppression Team (WEST), and Trafficking Response Team (STRT). SERT supports the Saskatchewan RCMP in its mission to keep the communities safe.

“These investigations show how the efforts of our hard-working teams reduce harm and ensure our neighbourhoods are a safe place for everyone,” said S/Sgt. Kory Davidsen, SERT’s central region manager , in a release.

“One of the greatest impacts on public safety in Saskatchewan has been the expansion of organized crime, which includes street gangs and drug trafficking. A highly skilled unit like the CRT-GTF, working alongside our dedicated frontline officers, makes a significant impact when it comes to taking drugs and weapons out of criminals’ hands,” Davidsen noted.

CRT-GTF is also a team of specialized RCMP officers focused on targeting criminals in the community. They are trained in executing search warrants, conducting surveillance, and using covert investigative techniques. They work closely with frontline officers from the Battlefords Detachment for support.

“No one understands a community better than its local residents,” said Cpl. Chris Gignac, who leads the North Battleford CRT-GTF.

“It can be very valuable when members of the public come forward and provide information on drug trafficking, illegal gun use or gang activity happening in their community. This helps make the Battlefords community a safer place for all those who call it home.”

Anyone with information about drug trafficking, illegal gun use or gang activity in the Battlefords area, is advised to call the North Battleford Crime Reduction Team – Gang Task Force at 310-RCMP (7267).
