Snow crews start again with emergency routes

Clearing up the city’s second snowfall of the season is a start and stop operation after 10-15 centimetres of snow that began Saturday night.

The snow crews are still working on grading emergency routes today at noon, according to the City of Prince Albert’s social media page.

People are asked to move any parked cars on the emergency route to help expedite the cleanup. These are marked in red on the snow clearing map.

Once emergency routes are done, crews will tackle transit routes, marked in blue on the map.

All buses were running on Monday but riders should still expect delays. The real time location of city buses are available to track on Transit Live.

Once transit routes have been cleared, it will be time for the downtown and school zones to be cleared. In these areas the snow has to be hauled away and which areas go first will be determined by the crews.

One snow operations crew does the snow clearing and do not provide 24-hour service.

There are 13 staff, four graders, five loaders, seven tandem trucks, one snow blower and four sanders that maintain 285 kilometres of streets.

While no snow is expected to fall over the next week, according to Environment Canada, on the heels this weekend’s storm comes colder temperatures, with -27 C expected tonight.
