The suspects arrested after a truck hit a police vehicle in Hudson Bay last week will return to court on Thursday.

James Whitehead, 22, and Sabrina Kelly, 30, face multiple charges after the incident.

They made their first appearance in Melfort Provincial Court last week and have a show-cause hearing in Melfort Thursday morning.

RCMP determined a stolen truck was at a home in Hudson Bay on Nov. 14.

When officers approached with emergency lights engaged, the truck accelerated and hit the passenger side of the police vehicle, disabling it.

It was then hit a second time as the suspects inside the truck tried to flee.

Officers broke the truck’s window and used a stun gun on the driver and arrested him. The passenger was also taken into custody.

The investigation revealed the truck had been stolen from Nipawin less than two weeks earlier.

Whitehead faces the most serious charges, including assault of a police officer with a weapon and resisting arrest, with both charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
