Dec 2, 2024 | 11:26 AM

A 32-year-old man is facing a number charges including aggravated assault and assaulting a peace officer, following an incident Monday morning in Prince Albert west flat neighbourhood.

At approximately 8:50 a.m., police were called to a residence in the 800 block of 17th Street West for a weapons complaint. The information provided was that a male had been stabbed.

The suspect fled the scene before police arrival; however, officers quickly located an injured male suffering from injuries consistent with a stabbing.

Shortly after, paramedics arrived on scene and transported the 20-year-old male victim to hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Upon further investigation, officers were able to obtain a description of the suspect and a male matching that description was located shortly after. An attempt was made to arrest the individual; however, the man resisted and a physical altercation occurred before the suspect began to flee on foot.

The male continued to ignore police commands resulting in a Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW) being deployed. The CEW was unsuccessful and the male continued to flee on foot before being arrested shortly after.

It is believed the victim and suspect were known to one another.
