RCMP investigating homicide on Onion Lake Cree Nation

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes is investigating a homicide on Onion Lake Cree Nation that happened early Friday morning.

Police responded to reports of a shooting on the reserve at around 6 a.m. on Dec. 6, where they found the victim had already been transported a local medical centre in Onion Lake.

Upon the arrival of EMS, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has since been identified as 37-year-old Jesse Heathen from Onion Lake Cree Nation.

Due to the circumstances of the death, RCMP Major Crimes has been called in to investigate, which is being ruled as a homicide.

Police have released the identity of the victim in an effort to gain any tips or information from the public about the incident.

Anyone with information, or who witnessed suspicious activity on Onion Lake Cree Nation on Dec. 6 between 12:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., is being asked to contact RCMP at 310-RCMP (7267) or Crime Stoppers.
