Dec 10, 2024 | 9:44 AM

A 21-year-old man from Montreal Lake Cree Nation is facing a number of charges, following a tense situation on Friday north of Prince Albert.

At approximately 5 p.m., Prince Albert RCMP were making proactive patrols in the Redwing area when they were flagged down by a concerned citizen who advised them of a vehicle driving in a dangerous manner.

The vehicle was soon after located on Highway 2, north of the city, and officers conducted a traffic stop.

While the man was exiting the vehicle, police observed a prohibited firearm on his person. The man resisted arrest; however, officers were able to bring him safely into custody. A modified shotgun was seized at the scene.

“I would like to extend my gratitude to the member of the public who brought this matter to the attention of RCMP, resulting in the seizure of an illegal firearm. This was an extremely dangerous situation, but thanks to the professionalism, high level of training and situational awareness of Prince Albert RCMP officers, this individual was safely apprehended,” says Sgt. Daniel Lozinski, the police officer in charge of operations at the Prince Albert RCMP detachment.

Patrick Ermine-Daniels is facing half a dozen gun related charges, as well as two counts of failing to comply with a release order, and failure to comply with a probation order.
