Tommy Gun’s Original Barbershop opens in North Battleford, blending tradition with contemporary style

“When we first started looking at perspective tenants, we looked at Tommy Gun’s as being right near the top of the list of franchises we wanted to be associated with,” said Austin Ahenakew, CEO of Red Pheasant Cree Nation Economic Development Corporation. “We have a lot of support from our Chief and council, the leadership, our management…they’ve given us the ability to invest in the franchise.”

Ahenakew said driving their decision was the fact that many people they spoke with talked about not being able to get into a barber in a timely manner or having to drive to Saskatoon or Lloydminster to get a haircut. The addition of the Tommy Gun’s in North Battleford means customers will now have access to some of the most trained and technically proficient barbers working in the industry today. The franchise has a comprehensive training system – Tommy Gun’s University – where employees can constantly improve their skills and have access to ongoing education and training.

The newest location at Eagles Landing is store number 104 for the franchise. While some staff has been hired already, the company is always on the lookout for talented barbers and hairstylists and Ahenakew said a relocation bonus is being offered depending on experience.

For Tommy Gun’s, its anther opportunity to not just provide a new service to the community, but also become a part of it by hiring local residents and supporting various causes. A great example of an ongoing partnership that highlights the company’s dedication to giving back to the community and making a positive impact is the Movember Foundation. Tommy Gun’s has proudly supported the annual fundraiser since 2017 and has helped raise over $500,000, contributing to projects that support men’s health, mental health and prostate cancer awareness.

They’re famous for their straight razor-shaves that start with a hot towel, then pre-shave oil, aftershave and a cold towel to finish.
