RCMP say ‘suspicious circumstances’ in Hudson Bay vehicle collision

Dec 12, 2024 | 4:38 PM

RCMP are now treating last week’s incident that resulted in a woman’s death on Highway 9 as suspicious.

The Major Crimes Unit is now investigating, as RCMP say the initial investigation determined “suspicious circumstances exist.”

A 50-year-old Hudson Bay woman was found dead after a vehicle left the highway last Thursday, coming to rest in an embankment on Highway 9 about five kilometres from the community.

She was found nearby and was declared dead.

A man was treated at the scene for non-life threatening injuries.

No other details have been released, and RCMP say they will release more information when it becomes available.

The Saskatchewan Coroners Service, Hudson Bay RCMP, Saskatchewan RCMP Forensic Identification Services, and a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist are assisting in the investigation, and anyone with information can submit anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
