15-year-old charged in bear spray incident
A group of kids couldn’t outrun the law on Saturday.
Around 5 p.m. that night, Prince Albert police officers were called to the 1400 block of Central Avenue for a report of a group of youth brandishing bear spray. They found a group matching the description of the suspects attempting to flee on foot.
Officers were able to arrest all three of the youth without incident. One of them was found to be in possession of bear spray. As a result, the 15-year-old boy has been charged with carrying and concealing a weapon.
According to the province, police have responded to over 3,000 bear spray incidents over the last five years. However, that number could be much higher when factoring in unreported cases.
