Only halfway to go as Ronald McDonald House gathers donations

Fundraising for two Saskatchewan Ronald McDonald Houses has reached the halfway mark, the organization confirmed on December 19 that they are 50 per cent of the way to reaching their goal.

The Miles to Go Capital Campaign has been getting some sizable donations to build the residences for families of sick children in Prince Albert and Regina.

This morning, Mann Northway in Prince Albert donated a 2025 Chevrolet Equinox, which will be for the organization’s use.

Several weeks ago, the Northern Lights Community Development Corporation donated $100,000.

The cost to build the 12 room facility planned in Prince Albert is about $8 million.

They still plan to break ground early in the new year. The city began work on installing services last fall and will also need to pave the nearby street.

Tammy Forrester, CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities, previously explained they will get shovels in the ground when they reach 80 per cent.

Construction is expected to take about 18 months and the goal is to be open by early to mid 2026.
