Riders coaching staff remains mostly unchanged for 2025

Dec 19, 2024 | 3:24 PM

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are keeping things mostly consistent when it comes to Cory Mace’s coaching staff.

J.C. Sherritt is the only member from the 2024 group to not return with reports indicating he has accepted the role of defensive co-ordinator for Mark Kilam’s staff with the Edmonton Elks.

Travis Brown joins the Riders’ coaching staff as the new linebackers coach. It will be his eighth season in the CFL coaching that position.

He spent the previous six seasons with the B.C. Lions (2019-24). Before joining the Lions, Brown spent two years as the linebackers coach of the Edmonton Elks (2018-19). He coached Sherritt in 2018, helping him earn 100 tackles in his final season as a player. After playing two seasons with the Ottawa Redblacks, Brown transitioned to coaching the linebackers at his alma mater, Fresno State, for two seasons (2017-18).

Also joining the staff will be Josh Donnelly as the team’s offensive assistant. Donnelly, a Regina product, joins the Roughriders after spending the last two seasons as a coach for the University of Regina Rams. Donnelly began coaching at the U of R in 2023 and this past season, was the team’s offensive co-ordinator.
