Year in Review: Melfort’s Logan Ferland has standout season for Saskatchewan Roughriders

Dec 25, 2024 | 2:00 PM

A Melfort football star was a big story in the northeast in 2024.

Saskatchewan Roughrider offensive lineman Logan Ferland received a long list of accolades thanks to his stellar performance for the Green and White.

Ferland was the glue that held the offensive line together in 2024 as the team rebounded to make the playoffs for the first time in three years.

The former Melfort Comets and Regina Thunder standout started every game last season.

He began the year in his familiar right guard spot, but at times was forced to play tackle and centre due to injuries along the offensive line.

Ferland was incredibly durable and dependable during the season as the offensive line allowed just 35 quarterback sacks. The Riders also featured the highest-scoring offense in the West Division.

The 27-year-old received several awards for his stellar play. He was named an all-CFL West Division offensive lineman, was the Rider nominee for Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman, took the honours for the West Division Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman, and was a runner-up for the CFL’s Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman.

Ferland was also one of three Roughriders to recently earn an invite for a workout at the NFL’s Denver Broncos practice facility.
