On their day off between games with the Saskatoon Blades, the Prince Albert Raiders made a trade with the Red Deer Rebels. The Raiders acquired 19-year-old defenceman Matteo Fabrizi in exchange for 18-year-old defenceman Doogan Pederson, prospect Miller Robson, and a third round pick in 2025.

Standing at 6’5″, 235 lbs, Fabrizi has played 197 regular season games in the WHL already across four seasons along with 23 games in the playoff, all with the Red Deer Rebels. Through the first 28 games this season, he’s managed 2G-6A-8P, ahead of his pace from the last two years.

In his career, Fabrizi has 11G-26A-37P in the regular season, along with two goals in his 23 playoff games. Undrafter, Fabrizi grew up in St. Albert, Alberta and played his AAA with the Yale Hockey Academy in the Canadian Sports School Hockey League.

“Matteo is a big veteran defenceman, and we’re looking forward to adding him to our lineup,” Raiders general manager Curtis Hunt said. “We wish Doogan good luck in Red Deer.”

Doogan Pederson was in his second season with the Raiders as part of the third unit with the Raiders. In 32 games this season, he’s put up 2G-8A-10P.

Miller Robson, a 2009 born forward, is currently playing AA with the Saskatoon Riverkings in U18 AA where he has 7G-7A-14P in 15 games, but he’s also been called up to play four games this year in AAA with the Saskatoon Blazers.

The pick the Raiders traded away originally belonged to the Swift Current Broncos.
