A man and a woman are now charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of a 24-year-old man at a home in Saulteaux First Nation on Thursday.

At approximately 4:50 a.m yesterday., the Battlefords RCMP received a call and found a man in serious condition, who was pronounced dead by paramedics shortly after their arrival.

Later that day, officers arrested two suspects at a home in Saulteaux.

RCMP said the victim has been identified as 24-year-old Lyle Night Jr. from Saulteaux First Nation, and his family has been notified and victim services made available to them.

After further investigation, 20-year-old Brody Runningaround and 23-year-old Malyka Nahbexie are each charged with one count of first-degree murder.

Due to the suspicious nature of the death, the investigation is taken over by the Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes unit.

They are both set to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on Jan. 6.
