P.A. security guard robbed and stabbed, one person arrested

Prince Albert Police are investigating an aggravated assault that ended with a man in hospital.

Early Tuesday evening, Police were called to a business in the 2900 block of second Ave. W. There was a report of a theft in progress where car keys had been stolen.

The suspects fled before police arrived and while investigating, officers learned that a security guard had been stabbed. Further investigation found that three people, two women and a man, were being asked to leave the building when the security guard’s keys were stolen.

Security continued to follow the suspects when an altercation broke out and one of the guards was stabbed by the male suspect. He was located and arrested a short time later without incident where upon searching him, officers found and seized a knife.

The victim, identified as a 24-year-old man, was treated by paramedics and transported to Victoria Hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries consistent with a stabbing.

Meanwhile the suspect, identified as 53-year-old Gilbert Robillard, is facing charges relating to aggravated assault and made his first court appearance this morning. He was remanded to Thursday.

A person close to the incident informed paNOW the initial incident occurred at South Hill mall but ended near South Hill Lodge.

They explained the three suspects had previously been banned from the property for mischief, assault and public intoxication. Security team members were the first to locate the fleeing suspects and told police where they could be found.

The source also noted the victim had suffered a large deep cut on his forehead which caused severe blooding.
