Four calls, four guns seized by PA Police

In a series of incidents over a span of 12 hours, Prince Albert Police officers removed four guns from the possession of people who weren’t supposed to have them.

On January 15 in the 1100 Block of 1st Avenue West, members from the Proactive Policing Unit saw a wanted man walking down the street.

After arresting him without incident, officers search his backpack and found a gun and meth.

The 40 year old man is facing multiple gun charges, four counts of breach of probation and possession of methamphetamine.

That same day, just before 1p.m, members with the Combined Traffic Services unit pulled over a speeding vehicle near Highway 55 East.

The driver told officers during the stop that he had used cannabis so he was tested for THC. While doing the test, a bag of what looked like meth fell from his person so he was arrested.

A search of the vehicle turned up a gun, which led to officers arresting the 25-year-old female passenger and charging her with possession of a firearm.

When they got the results of the THC test on the driver back, it showed he had also used cocaine. The 23-year-old man was then arrested for having the gun, two outstanding warrants, possession of the meth and obstructing police officers.

In the third incident, police were called to the 1400 block of Central Avenue for a reported suspicious person in the Gateway Mall food court.

Their information was that four males in the food court were talking about a break and enter, with one of them saying he had been bear sprayed.

The responding officers found three men and a woman who matched the description of the suspects. As officers approached, the woman walked towards the bathroom and met up with a fourth man and then returned to the table.

All four men were searched and a handgun was found inside one of the suspect’s backpacks. The gun was seized and the investigation continues.

In the fourth incident, police responded when called by the Fire Department to the intersection of f 28th Street and 6th Avenue West for a two vehicle collision. Both vehicles had extensive damage, according to PA Fire and medics were caring for the occupants of one vehicle that had minor injuries.

The people in the second vehicle had run away on foot but police found a stolen white SUV in the collision.

Witnesses said that a woman had been seen leaving the driver’s seat of the SUV with a bottle of alcohol along with another woman and three men.

The police dog was called and tracked the suspects to the 2600 block of 6th Avenue West where they found a bottle of alcohol.

A sawed off shotgun and some ammo were found in the stolen SUV.

Police are continuing to investigate and anyone with information that may assist is asked to contact police at 306- 953-4222, or in an emergency, 9 1 1. Anonymous tips can also be provided to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
