Cause of Unity Agroplex fire Sunday evening remains unknown

Unity Fire and Rescue says the cause of the fire that erupted at the Unity Agroplex Sunday evening remains unknown.
Colby Klein, the chief of the volunteer-based department, said in a statement sent to battlefordsNOW on Jan. 20 that they were alerted to the fire reported by a passing vehicle near the Agroplex. In response, the department deployed six units and 14 members to handle the situation.
“When we arrived, we found that the east end of the structure was involved, but we were able to make a quick attack and keep it from spreading to the rest of the building,” he added.
He went on to note that the biggest struggle they fought was the frigid temperatures at that time.
