A 20-year-old Prince Albert man pleaded guilty to attempted robbery and taking money from a business in Prince Albert last fall at the beginning of his anticipated trial.

Blake Hunt appeared from the prisoner’s box in Prince Albert Provincial Court on January 20 and admitted to attempted robbery as well as breaching his release conditions on Sept. 28 last year.

Police were first called to the 400 Block of 15th Street East at 11:40 p.m. on that day after Hunt, armed with a machete, went into a business and demanded money from the till.

An hour later, he tried to rob a second business in the 200 Block of 15th Street West. In that incident, two men and a woman went inside the business with machetes and knives to rob it, injuring one of the staff members.

They fled before police arrived but, an hour after that at 12:30 a.m. the morning of September 29, the two men returned to the business. Officers responded and made the arrest.

Hunt has been in custody and will remain that way at least until his sentencing on February 24.
