Jan 24, 2025 | 1:07 PM

Blowing snow and reduced visibility are causing major highway issues in Melfort and area.

Travel is not recommended on all highways near Melfort, according to the latest from the Highway Hotline.

They are reporting a motor vehicle collision on Highway 41 between the St. Brieux turnoff and Ethelton. There are many vehicles waiting in line in the area due to the collision.

Visibility is very poor in the area, with near zero visibility.

Motorists that are out are being asked to turn on their headlights to allow people to see them in reduced visibility.

Snowfall, drifting and packed snow, icy conditions, and reduced visibility are all factors in the designation.

Wind gusts up to 50 km/h are expected across the northeast this afternoon.

The wind will die down tonight and conditions are expected to clear.

RCMP issued a news release recommending that people check the road conditions prior to departure, with several rollovers reported on Highway 11 near Davidson.
