Humboldt council to host ‘Coffee with Council’ meeting next Monday

It’s an opportunity for Humboldt residents to hear more from their elected officials.

‘Coffee with Council’ will be held Monday, Feb. 3 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Humboldt and District Gallery.

Mayor Rob Muench told northeastNOW they held similar meetings with the public when he was previously mayor from 2016-2020, and the current council decided to resurrect the idea.

“It’s an opportunity for the public to come out in an informal setting to meet with council and talk to everybody one-on-one,” Muench explained.

Muench said ‘Coffee with Council’ will give people a chance to chat with council and allows the City to be transparent. The informal setting also allows people to be at ease and have a good discussion about the topics most affecting residents in the city.

While many people in Humboldt know each other, Muench said the event will help people connect and get better acquainted. He said it’s not always possible for people to make a phone call to council members or meet up with them in person to talk about important topics affecting Humboldt.

“It’s sort of a way for people to get together and not have that pressure of appearing before council,” said Muench.

The meeting will also allow council to tell residents what they’re working on.

Muench invites all residents to attend ‘Coffee with Council’ and they hope to hold an event every month to keep people informed.
