RCMP take over Riese Drive fire investigation

A fire which destroyed a trailer on La Ronge’s Riese Drive remains under investigation.
The trailer, which was reportedly vacant at the time of the incident, caught fire on the morning of Jan. 22. Since then, the La Ronge Regional Fire Department has handed over the investigation to the RCMP.
La Ronge Staff Sgt. Derek Eberle told larongeNOW in an email the RCMP was given the investigation to determine if there is a potential criminal element involvement.
He noted the matter remains under investigation and it has yet to be determined if the blaze was intentional. Eberle added no one was transported to hospital because of the fire and there is no outstanding risk to the public.
