Numerous arrests after multiple guns, drugs seized in Pelican Narrows

Members of the Prince Albert Crime Reduction Team and frontline officers of the Pelican Narrows detachment arrested 31 people and made several seizures of illegal drugs and firearms this month.

On Jan. 21, officers executed several search warrants at four different locations in Pelican Narrows in relation to ongoing drug and firearm trafficking investigations.

“These seizures and arrests are examples of how targeted enforcement can take dangerous drugs and weapons out of a community,” Sgt. Toby Martin, Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Teams’ north region acting manager, said.

In total, officers seized four illegal guns at several residences, two replica firearms, 94 grams of crack cocaine, 13 grams of cocaine, a small amount of meth and other drug trafficking evidence.

Four suspects are facing charges and 27 were released without charges. An investigation continues.

Olaitan Iyanda Amoo, 23, from Mississauga, Ontario was charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, one count of possessing a restricted firearm/prohibited weapon with ammunition without a licence/registration, unauthorized possession of a firearm, unsafe storage of firearms, using firearm in the commission of an offence, and possession of weapon obtained by crime.

Leah Sewap, 35, from Pelican Narrows was charged with possession of meth for the purpose of trafficking and using an imitation firearm in the commission of an offence.

Jocelyn Linklater, 37, from Pelican Narrows was charged with possession of a firearm, tampering with a serial number on a firearm, and unsafe storage of firearms.

Kelvin McCallum, 18, from Pelican Narrows was charged with possession of a firearm, careless use of a firearm, unsafe storage of firearms, possession of a prohibited firearm and carrying a concealed weapon.

All the accused made their first appearance in court on Jan. 22.
