Feb 6, 2025 | 5:12 PM

A man is in police custody after allegedly setting fire to a house in the West Flat on Thursday morning.

Prince Albert Police said they received a report of a structure fire in the 200 block of 15th Street West at around 6:15 a.m.

Officers along with members of the Prince Albert Fire Department responded to the scene and quickly located a 36-year-old woman who had exited the burning residence. She was assessed on scene by Parkland Ambulance and it’s unknown if she suffered any injuries.

A witness told paNOW they saw someone jump out a window but this has not been confirmed.

Through investigation, police were able to identify, locate, and arrest a 37-year-old man a few hours later and have since charged him with one count of arson with disregard for human life.

Thursday’s fire happened one block away from another home that burned on Jan. 31. It’s unknown if both incidents are connected.

The investigation continues.
