Hudson Bay hopes drinking water issues are solved

Feb 25, 2025 | 10:10 AM

The Town of Hudson Bay is hoping they’ve finally solved an ongoing issue with their drinking water.

A statement issued on the town’s social media sites says workers have been struggling with fluctuations of water turbidity levels at their water treatment plant.

“Our crew has spent countless hours troubleshooting, cleaning, changing components, testing, and consulting with various knowledgeable persons in the industry, in [an] attempt to rectify the issue,” said the post.

The water turbidity issue cropped up again over the weekend, and the Town said they were given additional maintenance issues to try from the manufacturer of the component in the water plant, along with some help from a former plant employee.

“Thankfully, just a few hours after this were completed, and with the help of a retired water plant operator, our water turbidity levels dropped drastically,” the Town said. They added they believe the issue has been the underlying cause of the trouble they have been experiencing since having to issue water advisories last summer.

The Town said despite the recent issues with the water, it has been safe to drink throughout.

“It is tested locally twice a day, and samples are submitted to the Provincial Laboratory weekly,” explained the post.

According to the Town, there are protocols to follow anytime there are disruptions or other issues with the water, and any time it doesn’t meet the standards for safe consumption the public will be notified as soon as possible.

Anyone with concerns or questions about the water supply can be directed to the Town Office.
