The Boreal Healthcare Foundation has announced their nominees for the upcoming 2025 Med Gala.

The annual event celebrates healthcare and raises money to support medical services at Victoria Hospital and healthcare throughout the province’s north.

The gala “highlights individuals and teams whose dedication, innovation, and service have profoundly impacted patient care in Prince Albert and Northern Saskatchewan,” a Boreal Healthcare Foundation news release stated.

The Prince Albert Home Care Team has been nominated for the Collaborative Care Award.

The team is being recognized for “its unwavering commitment to providing comprehensive, multidisciplinary care that allows patients to remain in their homes while receiving essential healthcare services,” said the release. The broad range of services they provide include nursing care for acute and chronic conditions, personal care assistance to support daily living activities, respite and home management services for families and caregivers, therapies and rehabilitation to aid in recovery and mobility, meal services and homemaking support, volunteer-driven program including security checks and transportation assistance, and a postpartum visiting program.

“The Prince Albert Home Care Team is a shining example of collaboration in action,” said Cody Barnett, CEO of the Boreal Healthcare Foundation. “Through their tireless efforts, they empower individuals to live independently while receiving the care they need. Their dedication, expertise, and commitment to patient-centered care truly set them apart.”

Andrew (Andy) McLetchie is the Nursing Excellence Award nominee.

The Foundation said McLetchie has “played a pivotal role in expanding healthcare services and supporting rural and northern communities,” for over two decades.

Before joining the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) in 2018, McLetchie was the CEO of Mamawetan Churchill River Health Region, working closely with Indigenous communities, local healthcare providers, and leaders across the region to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve essential services.

The Foundation said during his time as VP of Integrated Northern Health and Chief Nursing Officer, McLetchie has helped expand mental health and addictions services province-wide, strengthened nursing partnerships, and enhanced healthcare services in northern and rural communities.

“Andy’s leadership has had a profound impact on healthcare in Saskatchewan,” said Barnett. “His vision, dedication, and passion for patient care have strengthened our healthcare system, ensuring that the needs of northern communities remain a priority.”

The award, sponsored by MNP, “celebrates an individual whose commitment to healthcare has made a profound and lasting impact on the well-being of people in Prince Albert, central, and northern Saskatchewan.” The individual provides exemplary leadership, innovation, and dedication in advancing healthcare.

Stewart-Stevens helped transform Victoria Square Pharmacy and enhanced healthcare accessibility.

“A true trailblazer, Roses introduced Prince Albert’s first drive-through prescription service, ensuring more convenient and efficient medication access for patients,” the release said. The Foundation cited her commitment to patient-centred care and drive to improve health outcomes through innovative solutions.

“Roses is not just a leader in healthcare—she is a visionary, an innovator, and an inspiration to all of us,” said Barnett. “Her commitment to making healthcare more accessible and patient-centered has changed lives and continues to shape the future of pharmacy in our region.”

This year’s Med Gala is presented by Mann-Northway GM and will take place March 22 at the Prince Albert Exhibition Centre. Last year, the Med Gala helped raise more than $164,000.
