Scott Moe calls cabinet meeting for Wednesday to consider Sask. response to tariffs
Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe has called a meeting of his cabinet for Wednesday to consider the provincial government’s reaction to the U.S. tariffs imposed on Tuesday.
Moe said in a social media post that U.S. President Donald Trump “was simply wrong” when he says that Canada has nothing the U.S. needs, adding that the 25-per-cent tariffs on Canadian imports and 10-per-cent tariffs on Canadian energy would mean prices would increase for American families and jobs would be lost as a result.
“This is a completely self-inflicted and unnecessary action by the American government,” Moe said.
Moe has previously touted the importance of Saskatchewan products to the United States, particularly uranium and potash, something he mentioned again in his social media comment on Tuesday.
