U15 Stars on the hunt for North division title
After beating the Saskatoon Stallions 2-1 in a three-game series, the North West U15 AA Stars now make their way to Saskatoon tonight to take on the Saskatoon Bandits in game one of the North Division finals in the Sask. AA Hockey League.
The Bandits were one of the best teams during the regular season, boasting a 24-1-2-2 (W-L-OTL-T) for 52 points and first overall in the North Division. The Stars took on the Bandits twice during the season, losing 2-0 and 3-1. However, Stars Head Coach Jody Reiter said even though they lost, they were still solid games.
“We have a couple good games with them. We played them in November, and it was a very close score, shots were very close in that game too and then we played them again in mid-December in Saskatoon and again lost by two, dropped that game 3-1 but again, a really good game,” he said.
Since the last time the two teams played, the Stars have gone 13-4, including their playoff contests and have been improving every game. Reiter said the reason for the success is due to the players on the ice and changes in the lineup.
