Sharks drop Game 1 of finals to Saskatoon

Last night, the Battlefords AAA Sharks took on the Saskatoon Stars in Game 1 of the Sask. Female U18 AAA Hockey League finals and ended up losing 3-0 at the Battleford Arena.

The Stars opened up the scoring in the first period with two goals, the first one from Rachel Pavlove to go up 1-0, and the second one from Claire Moorman on the powerplay to make it 2-0.

Then In the second period, the Stars were able to find the back of the net again from Mikayla Broadfoot to extend the lead to 3-0 going into the third.

For the third, the Sharks had lots of chances on net but just couldn’t convert and even outshot the Stars 15 to 6 in the period.

Ultimately, the Sharks couldn’t find a goal and the game ended with a 3-0 score for the Stars.

Battlefords outshot the Stars 38 to 24 in the game. Stars net-minder, Taryn Sutter stopped all 38 shots in the contest while Sharks, Mackenzie Seth stopped 8/10 and Cypress Classen stopped 13/14.

The Sharks will have a chance to even the series tonight as they take on the Stars again at the Merlis Belsher Place in Saskatoon, puck drop at 1:30 p.m.
