The Adam Herold Legacy Foundation’s 2025-26 Hockey and Leadership Development Program is accepting applications.

The program is designed to provide “opportunities to Saskatchewan youth to develop and refine their hockey skills as well as their leadership potential,” according to the Foundation’s news release.

The Adam Herold Legacy Foundation was established to honour Adam Herold, who was the youngest player killed in the Humboldt Broncos bus crash in 2018. The Foundation said Herold was proud of his small-town roots as a Montmartre native and was always willing to help others to make the community and province a better place.

The development program “provides top trainers for skill development, physical and mental training, coaching development and ongoing support for hockey programs in rural communities.” It gives youth a chance to work on their hockey skills and leadership potential.

“Talking to the participants about the importance of being good citizens and giving back to their communities is a key part of the leadership sessions,” Adam’s father Russell Harold said in the release. “We’re very proud to say that the boys, girls and young men and women who have attended the camps have performed approximately 20,000 hours of volunteer work in and around their communities.”

Up to three communities will be chosen to hold the camps with three full days of hockey and leadership development. The camps are a partnership between the Foundation and the host communities, who will arrange and provide ice and classroom facilities, help with registration, and provide other support. The Foundation will provide the coaches, instructors, and other resources for the weekend sessions.

According to the Foundation, over 2,000 participants have attended camps in a number of Saskatchewan communities, including Carrot River, Naicam, and Preeceville. Any community looking to apply can visit their website or email adamheroldlegacyfoundation@gmail.com for more information.

The deadline to apply is April 7.
