Several local schools celebrating after Hoopla victories

A big weekend for local teams at the HOOPLA provincial high school basketball championships in Saskatoon.

The Wynyard Bears won the 3A girls championship with a 69-53 victory over Indian Head on Saturday. Lanigan finished with the bronze medal after a 66-52 win over Regina Christian.

The top-seeded St. Brieux Crusaders won the 2A girls side with a 49-47 nailbiter in the gold medal game against Wilkie.

Preeceville cruised to the 1A girls title with a 67-40 over Foam Lake in the championship game.

On the boys side, the second-seeded Porcupine Plain Bears upended the number one seed Preeceville 76-66 for the gold medal.

The St. Brieux Crusaders took home the silver medal after dropping a 76-66 decision to Saskatoon Christian in the championship matchup.
