In addition to the murder charge, Ross is also accused of breaching a release condition relating to abstinence from drugs or alcohol.

On Monday, around 12:30 a.m., police were called to an apartment building in the 300 block of River Street West.

They soon after found the body of a 35-year-old man. An autopsy was done on Monday and on Tuesday, the Prince Albert Police Service confirmed the victim’s identity to be Brett Charles who is from Montreal Lake Cree Nation..

Police also said the victim and the accused were known to each other.

On social media, friends of the victim have commented he was very well liked and was always laughing or smiling.

Meanwhile a person close to the incident informed paNOW there had been a social gathering at the apartment.

A firearm was discharged towards a vehicle and there were no injuries reported.

After police tracked down and stopped the suspect vehicle, they seized three containers of cocaine. During the arrest, Ross allegedly bit one of the police officers, causing minor injury.

In October, 2021, Charles’ brother Wade was assaulted in Prince Albert, and later passed away at a Regina hospital. That case remains unsolved.
