Provincial park bookings start next week, sites added

This year’s camping season is getting started with the addition of new seasonal sites and Candle Lake and Meadow Lake Provincial Park.

The province announced new sites have been added to Buffalo Pound Crooked Lake, Great Blue Heron and Makwa camprounds as well.

All told, 63 new seasonal sites were added along with two new Camp-Easy yurts at Rowan’s Ravine Provincial Park.

Bookings open for seasonal sites on April 7 and between April 8 and 15, people can book their overnight sites as well.

“Camping is a wonderful option for people who want an affordable summer vacation and to enjoy time in nature,” Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Alana Ross said. “As camping grows in popularity, our provincial parks are ready to meet the demand with more campsites, new events and expanded programming.”

Meadow Lake will host one of the new events planned for this year on April 9. Festival in the Forest will run that afternoon at the Greig Lake Visitor Centre.

Another new northern event is Into the Pines which will run at Candle Lake on September 13 at the Old Baldy Trail Head.

Canada Day and Summer Cinemas will happen all summer at parks around the province.

Reservations can be made online but campers are being reminded that there is a queuing system in place and webpages are best refreshed every morning at 7 a.m.

The complete reservation schedule for 2025 is as follows:

April 7: All parks with seasonal camp sites available.

Nightly, day-use facilities, Camp-Easy yurt and group campsites:

April 8: Candle Lake, Good Spirit Lake, Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan Landing;

April 9: Break;

April 10: Buffalo Pound, Bronson Forest, Duck Mountain, Moose Mountain, Porcupine Hills;

April 11: Danielson, Great Blue Heron, Greenwater Lake, Rowan’s Ravine, The Battlefords;

April 14: Douglas, Echo Valley, Makwa Lake, Narrow Hills, Pike Lake; and

April 15: Blackstrap, Fort Carlton, Crooked Lake, Cypress Hills, Lac La Ronge.
