Suncrest College to offer Primary Care Paramedic program in Tisdale in 2026

A new educational program is coming to Tisdale next year.

Suncrest College is offering a Tisdale intake for its Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) program starting in May of 2026.

Applications are now open for the program, which runs for 51 weeks and will conclude in July 2027.

Twelve students will be accepted into the program.

Vice President of Academics and Learner Engagement Teri Thompson said the addition of the intake will provide more local students with the opportunity to pursue PCP training without needing to relocate.

“With this program and profession both in high demand, offering it in a smaller community provides an alternative pathway for students who may prefer a different post-secondary experience compared to larger centers like Regina, Moose Jaw, or Saskatoon,” Thompson said.

The PCP program is offered at Suncrest College’s Melville campus regularly. It was also delivered in Nipawin for 2023-24.

“Following the success of the Nipawin offering, we saw a natural opportunity to bring this program back to the region,” Thompson explained.

She said training locally helps retain skilled professionals to serve local communities and addressing the demand for paramedics in rural areas.

Suncrest College recommends that students apply as soon as possible to secure their seat, as admission is first qualified, first accepted.
