Lake Country Co-op has announce an $8 million renovation to the La Ronge Food Store.

A media release issued Wednesday states the redevelopment will bring significant upgrades that will enhance the shopping experience for members and the community. It adds the renovation reflects Lake Country Co-op’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, modernization, and ensures it can continue to meet the evolving needs of customers.

“As part of this project, we will be upgrading our refrigeration systems to improve energy efficiency and product freshness,” the release states.

“Every department will undergo a full refresh, creating a more modern and welcoming atmosphere. To better serve our customers, we are expanding our warehouse space, allowing us to improve product availability and offer a wider selection of items. One of the most exciting changes will be the transformation of our meat department into an open concept design, providing an elevated shopping experience with easier access to our meat department team members and fresh, high-quality meats.”

In addition, Lake Country Co-op will be introducing new specialty offerings, including a popcorn kitchen and a dedicated candy store. These offerings will bring unique and fun options to the store.

The entire interior and exterior of the building will also be transformed, creating a fresh, updated look.

“This investment is not just about improving the store— it’s about strengthening the La Ronge community and surrounding areas for the future,” said Geoff German, the Vice-President of Consumer Operations and Innovation.

“We are committed to providing our customers with a superior experience, and this enhanced and modernized facility is a testament to that commitment.”

Renovations are scheduled to start by the end of April and customers can expect disruptions for approximately 10 months during the reconstruction phase.
