Alberta RCMP investigate impaired driving after North Battleford resident killed in crash near Edmonton

A 33-year-old from North Battleford was one of two people killed in a fatal crash in Leduc County, Alta., on Tuesday night, as Mounties investigate the possibility of impaired driving.

Alberta RCMP say the two-vehicle collision happened around 8:30 p.m. on Highway 21 at Township Road 502, roughly 21 km southeast of Edmonton.

Upon arrival, officers found the North Battleford resident, who was not identified, along with a 73-year-old resident of Camrose, Alta. dead at the scene.

The driver and sole occupant of the other vehicle was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Officers say they are now investigating the surviving driver for impaired driving causing death.
