The Melfort Fire Department responded to a chimney fire east of the city last week.

They were called to the scene in the early morning hours last Friday.

When crews arrived, the home was full of smoke, with flames shooting out of the exterior walls.

Firefighters began to attack the exterior to knock down the progress of the fire, and the portable pond was also set up.

A tanker truck began shuttling water back and forth from Melfort as well.

Everyone in the house made it out safely before fire crews arrived.

The fire department thanked SaskPower and SaskEnergy for their help at the scene.

Crews were on scene for about five hours.
