Apr 7, 2025 | 4:42 PM

An armed teen was responsible for the lockdown of La Ronge’s Churchill Community High School on April 4.

According to Saskatchewan RCMP, at approximately 3 p.m., police received a report of an armed individual at the school and officers immediately responded.

The school enacted its hold and secure procedures, while officers located the individual inside the school and arrested her.

They located and seized an airsoft firearm during her arrest. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

As a result of continued investigation, a teenaged girl – who can’t be identified as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act – has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and carrying a concealed weapon.

She was scheduled to appear in La Ronge Provincial Court on April 7.

The Northern Lights School Division issued a letter on Friday acknowledging the incident. It states support will be made available to the school community and officials will release an update when they are able.
