MFD called to extinguish a fire at the Melfort landfill

Melfort fire crews were busy again on Monday.
The department was called to assist the City of Melfort crews with a fire at the landfill Monday afternoon.
City crews used a landfill dozer to do an initial knock down of the fire, while the Melfort Fire Department wet down the hot spots and the dozer worked up the garbage to extinguish the fire.
The call came one day after fire crews responded to a shop fire west of the city on Sunday.
