Successful weekend for PA Lakers at provincial tournament

Apr 14, 2025 | 12:10 PM

The Battle of the Bridge City Tournament was held this past weekend in Saskatoon and Prince Albert was well represented.

Both the U13 and U15 Lakers’ squads returned home with silver medals.

The U13 team won its first four games. On Saturday, after beating Swift Current 81-20, they downed the Saskatoon Supernovas 66-51. On Sunday they beat Saskatoon Shadow 62-79 and the Moose Jaw Spartans 53-72 which advanced the team to the gold medal game against YXE Elite.

The final score was 91-86 in favor of the Elite.

The U15 boys also performed well in their division.

After beating the Moose Jaw Spartans 69-65, the U15 squad played GTBC South twice (U14 and U15) and won 68-53 and 68-53.

In the gold medal game, they again played Moose Jaw and lost 70-62.

An additional U15 squad and U18 team also competed and gained some valuable tournament experience.

The Lakers’ home tournament (Rock the North) in Prince Albert is coming up on April 25 and runs until April 27.

The Lakers teams are PACBA’s club basketball teams. They play competitively throughout Saskatchewan and beyond from April to June. Open tryouts for all spring teams occur in February/March.
