Pothole repair underway in Prince Albert
Residents are being encouraged to report potholes to the city as operations have begun to repair the pesky post-melt problems.
Potholes form when moisture from snowmelt or rain seeps into pavement cracks. When the moisture freezes and expands, it causes the asphalt to break apart. Traffic then worsens the damage, increasing the pothole’s size.
The city said pothole repair requires dry conditions to be effective. Crews are focusing first on high-priority areas including major arterial roads, school zones, bus routes, and the Central Avenue business district. Residential streets will follow.
To assist crews, residents are encouraged to report potholes using the city’s online service request portal: www.citypa.ca/report
