The Battlefords AAA Sharks concluded their 2024–25 season with their year-end awards banquet, celebrating the record-breaking campaign that saw them climb to the very top of the Saskatchewan Female U18 AAA Hockey League (SFU18AAAHL).

Under the guidance of head coach Nolan Horbach, the Sharks posted their best-ever regular season record, going 23-3-2-2 (W-L-OTW-OTL). This performance also secured them a first-place spot in the league standings and home ice advantage going into the playoffs. Although they just fell short in the finals to the Saskatoon Stars, it was a remarkable season with the growth and promise of the team being evident for the years to come.

Award Winners

Topping the list of award recipients was forward Danika Dureau, who walked away with a handful of honours including Most Valuable Player, Top Offensive Player, and a share of the Most Dedicated Player and Leadership award. Dureau was a driving force for the Sharks all season with her relentless work ethic, leading them in points while setting a high standard both on and off the ice.

Horbach reflected on the season by giving praise to the team for everything they accomplished.

“When you look back on it, it was such an incredible year of firsts and milestones for the organization, and obviously the girls from an individual perspective accomplished a lot. We couldn’t be happier with them, and they should be extremely proud for all the work they put in. I also can’t thank the community enough for the support and we just look to build off that and we hope to provide them with some good hockey moving forward,” he said.

The Sharks are now ready to host their spring camp this weekend, April 18-19 at the Don Ross Arena.
