UPDATE: A fourth teenage boy charged in shooting incident at Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation

Ahtahkakoop RCMP said a fourth teenage boy wanted in connection with a shooting incident on April 12 was arrested by Prince Albert Police on Thursday.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation on April 23.

Saskatchewan RCMP are confirming three teenage boys have been charged and a fourth is wanted in connection to a shooting incident last Saturday night at Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation that sent one person to hospital.

The incident prompted a public alert.

At approximately 8:50 p.m., officers received a weapons call, and along with local EMS responded to the scene. The subsequent investigation determined a group of individuals were outside a residence when they were approached by four males.

One of the males had a firearm. The firearm was discharged and a male victim was injured. A can of bear spray was deployed, also affecting the male victim.

The injured male was then transported to hospital by EMS with injuries described as serious, but non-life threatening in nature.

Officers made patrols and searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects.

In the early morning hours of April 13, three male youths were arrested at Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation and have each been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

One of the males was additionally charged with one count of assault with a weapon.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a fourth male youth from Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation, who is facing similar charges.

As per the Youth Criminal Justice Act, none of the boys can be identified.

Ahtahkakoop RCMP continue to investigate.

Spiritwood, Big River, and Blaine Lake RCMP, along with Saskatchewan RCMP’s Police Dog Services and Critical Incident Response Team assisted in this investigation.
