2025 FEDERAL ELECTION

Advance voting opens this Easter weekend; Elections Canada reminds voters to check their cards

Apr 17, 2025 | 11:32 AM

Voters in the federal riding of Battlefords–Lloydminster–Meadow Lake can soon cast their ballots, with advance voting set to run throughout the Easter long weekend.

Advance polling stations will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on April 18, 19, 20 and 21. To find their assigned polling station, electors should consult their voter information card or use the Elections Canada Voter Information Service online.

Voters can also cast their ballot early at any Elections Canada office before 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, or apply to vote by mail using a special ballot. However, once an elector applies to vote by mail, they cannot change their mind and vote in person at an advance poll or on election day.

As of April 15, Elections Canada reported that 738 special ballot kits had been issued in the Battlefords–Lloydminster–Meadow Lake riding.

The Elections Canada office in the Battlefords is located at the Frontier Centre, 11429 Railway Avenue East, Suite Bay 11. In Meadow Lake, the office is located at 515 3rd Street West, Suite 401. In Lloydminster, it is located at 3752 51 Avenue, Suite 103.

Voters who miss the advance voting or special ballot deadlines will still be able to cast their ballot on election day, Monday, April 28, 2025, at their assigned polling station.

Mavi Marie-France Kenny, regional media advisor for Elections Canada, emphasized that each elector is assigned to a specific location and must vote there.

“If you go there and it’s not your polling place, then you’re going to be turned away and sent somewhere,” she said.

To vote, electors must prove their identity and address. Accepted identification includes a government-issued card with a photo, name and current address; two documents, such as a health card and a utility bill; or a declaration with someone vouching for the voter.
